chiropractic care in Manhattan for car accident injury.jpgAn untreated car accident injury can lead to a lifetime of chronic back and neck pain. If you suffer from one of these three common car accident injuries, then our Manhattan chiropractor can help. The earlier that you seek treatment for a car accident injury, the more our chiropractic care team can do to help speed up the injury recovery process and assist with natural pain management.

3 Types of Car Accident Injuries

#1: Whiplash. This common injury can occur at speeds as slow as 5mph. A whiplash injury occurs when the force of a rear impact whips the neck backwards and forwards. This can cause a misalignment of the cervical spine that leads to chronic neck pain, headaches and migraines. Accident victims may also have difficulty concentrating at work and sleeping at night. Chiropractic adjustments can correct the underlying misalignment that is triggering pain. We also offer iTrac Therapy, an innovative method for restoring a lost cervical curve and correcting head posture.

#2: Herniated disc.  When a disc slips out of position, it may compress nearby nerves, triggering pain sensations. A herniated disc may be incredibly painful if it compresses the sciatic nerve in the lower back. This can cause sciatica, a condition characterized by low back pain and radiating pain in the buttocks and legs. Chiropractic adjustments help restore alignment to the spine. By restoring a herniated disc to its proper position, our Manhattan chiropractor will help reduce pressure on the nerves to provide lasting pain relief.

#3: Muscle Stiffness. Sore, stiff and tight muscles are common after a car accident injury. The muscles may be stretched beyond their normal range of motion, locking in tension and stress. Techniques like massage and physical therapy can help release these locked tension while promoting internal healing. Massage helps to flush out toxins, break up adhesions and repair damaged tissue.
